WiBand Communications Corp. has been providing innovative custom communications solutions to our customers across Western Canada since 1999. Headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, WiBand also has branch offices in Edmonton and Calgary, servicing over 100 urban and rural centres in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
 
WiBand Communications uses a combination of fixed wireless, fibre, cable and DSL to provide our customers with fully redundant internet and data solutions. Bob Kennedy 
Chief Executive Officer 


Company Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Kennedy actively directs WiBand's strategic direction and manages key operational and sales decisions from WiBand's Head Office in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

A life-long entrepreneur with a passion for new technology, Mr. Kennedy founded WiBand Communications Corp. in 1999 when wireless broadband technology was in its infancy.  Prior to the inception of WiBand, Mr. Kennedy was the founder and CEO of ComputerLand Western Canada and of PBSC Computer Training Centres both of which were sold to a multi-National computing OEM. 


Guy Bertrand
Executive Vice President 
 
Located in our Edmonton Branch, Mr. Bertrand has been with WiBand for seven years and in the industry for ten years.  He is a key part of WiBand's Management team and has applied his formal Business education and Project Management training to the implementation of large projects and influencing WiBand's strategic direction. 


Mike Bayes
Vice President of Technology  

Mike Bayes is responsible for the management and direction of activities related to engineering, customer support and product technology at WiBand.

Mr. Bayes' career has covered a wide range of telecommunications experience for over 15 years in multiple disciplines including engineering and operations.  Born and raised in Manitoba, Mr. Bayes joined WiBand in 1999 as a network engineer and has been heavily involved in the development and construction of WiBand's network infrastructure.  Prior to joining WiBand, he served several years as a wireless engineer implementing voice and data satellite systems for Telesat Canada and Cancom.  In 2007, Mr. Bayes moved into the role of Vice President, Technology with the company and has since become a senior leader with management responsibilities for a number of WiBand's departments including the Network Operations Centre, Service Delivery and Operations.


Darren Frykas
Vice President of Finance

Mr. Frykas was appointed to the position of Director of Finance & Administration in September of 2009.  He has extensive experience overseeing business performance and strategic growth initiatives.  Mr. Frykas is responsible for overall financial management of the company, installation of  financial systems and corporate and strategic development.  A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mr. Frykas attended the University of Manitoba where he earned his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree in 1999.


Jennifer Kennedy
Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Directing and managing the sales and strategic business development side of WiBand, Ms. Kennedy also coordinates and directs WiBand’s marketing agency, ThinkShift Inc. Joining WiBand in 2006 as an Account Executive, Ms. Kennedy has earned consecutive President’s Club awards both for excellence in sales and outstanding contributions to the company. In addition to obtaining her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Manitoba in 2003, Jen has a background in Telecom Sales and Commodity Futures Trading.


Devin Newton
Director of Operations

Joining the WiBand team as Director of Operations in February 2012, Mr. Newton oversees Field Services, manages WiBand facilities and coordinates both internal and external large project deployments. A Certified Network Technician, Mr. Newton is also responsible for overseeing WiBand’s Corporate IT. Bringing 14 years of technical experience in a variety of roles including corporate IT management, software development, and project management, Mr. Newton is a valuable addition to the leadership team.


Mike Stock
Director of Sales

Mike Stock trains, manages and mentors WiBand’s team of Account Executives and is instrumental in WiBand’s continual growth across Western Canada. Also responsible for the management and continual development of WiBand’s major accounts portfolio , Mr. Stock leads by example and has been awarded consecutive President’s Club awards for excellence in sales. In addition to over 10 years of experience in the IT and Telecom industry with TeraGo Networks and Xerox, Mr. Stock also holds a degree in Hospitality Management from Red River College.
